Minutes from 9/30 Member Meeting

At the Near East Side Cooperative Market, we have many assets and strengths.  But as we continue to work with a business model that no longer matches our skills or our mission, we have also faced many obstacles.  In response to these obstacles, the NESCM is considering a significant change in our business model and our strategic approach, which will move us away from a grocery store model and towards a community engagement model, which would be executed by a newly incorporated Non-Profit organization.  We would retain our space at 89 Parsons, which could become a hub for community gatherings and educational programming, and we would revisit our grocery bag services. The Co-Op Needs You!

Amid a wide variety of transitions, we have been having a difficult time keeping the store staffed with volunteers.  Volunteering is fun, simple, and a great way to connect to your community.  If you’re interested in giving a few hours of your time to invest in and connect with your community, please reach out to our interim volunteer coordinator, Tokeisha Stevens.  She can be reached at MozaicStar [at] gmail dot com.

May 16 is the Co-op’s 2-year Anniversary!

Celebrate with your co-op!

It has been 2 years since our doors opened and we’ll be celebrating this Saturday 1-5pm! We’ll have samples, giveaways and $5 off memberships all day. This is a great time to meet your co-op board members, sign up to volunteer and learn more about membership opportunities! Get your questions answered, check out the co-op’s current products and help our co-op family grow!

This is also a great opportunity for vendors! If interested message us privately or below. See you in the sunshine!

Product List Updated

The product list under the has now been updated to reflect what we’re selling in the store.  We will do our best to keep this list updated going forward, so that it will always reflect the products that we’re peddlin’.  [Note:  The product list is not meant to indicate what is in stock.  We will remove items from the progress list when we discontinue them, not just when we run out of them.]

Columbus Underground features Near East Side’s New Location

“In February, it was announced that the Near East Side Cooperative Market would be relocating from 1117 Oak Street to a new home at 85 Parsons Avenue. The move means a smaller store and limited selection of products, but an increase in visibility and customer access with more nearby businesses and existing foot traffic.

The store officially opened on Saturday, April 11th. Current hours of operation are Monday through Fridays from 4pm to 7pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 5pm.”
